Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali is an Indian television drama series that premiered on 15 February 2021 on StarPlus. The series is based on Star Maa’s Telugu series Gorintaku. Produced by SOL Productions and Sandiip Films, it stars Shivangi Khedkar and Sai Ketan Rao

The story is about two individuals Pallavi Mandar Deshmukh and Raghav Rao. Pallavi is a widow but still lives with her loving in-laws and is scared of getting married again due to the tragic death of her husband. On the contrary, Raghav is an arrogant and rich businessman who also has a bitter past.

For the latter, it is shown that years ago, Raghav’s father and younger brother died due to his arrogant self to the townspeople. His mother (Jaya Rao) abandoned and hated him because of it and she left the home along with her daughter, (Kirti Rao). Pallavi owns a saree shop (Deshmukh Saree Emporium), she lies about the profit to make her in-laws family happy after her husband’s (Mandar Deshmukh) death. Pallavi manages to get enough money to pay the rent but her aunt-in-law, (Sulochana Deshmukh), meddles to get money. She speaks to the owner to not let Pallavi pay so she begs her for the money and is forced to give her portion of the house in order to save her shop. Pallavi struggles to manage her sister-in-law, (Mansi Deshmukh) wedding because of the high budget and Sulochana’s constant demands. Pallavi and Raghav soon meet and get off to a bitter start. After a heated argument, Raghav burns all of Pallavi’s hard work and she has a breakdown as this was the final option for her to overcome her financial issues. Pallavi misunderstands a situation where Pallavi thinks Raghav was hitting a kid and an old man for his own pleasure and she slaps him in front of a crowd.

Raghav meets Anjali who is engaged to someone else but infatuated with Raghav. Raghav flirts with her only to expose her truth to her fiancée. Raghav gathers some information about Pallavi and comes to know she owns a saree shop. He comes to her shop to teach her a lesson. Pallavi’s second sister-in-law (Amruta Deshmukh) is a huge fan of Raghav and has a big crush on him. Raghav still has a strained relationship with his mother and sister who orders him to leave them alone as he constantly keeps check on them. He tries to prove to them he is being changing. He decides to bring his family back to their home as his mother is ill but she straightaway refuses calling him a murderer. But after some convincing from his Kirti and mother puts forward a condition, for two days she doesn’t want to hear anything about him from people or on the news.

Pallavi takes a catering order at an elderly home which is actually owned by Raghav. In reality, Raghav is actually a kind man and has a secret life and lives in two completely different worlds, one with him being an underworld mafia don and the other with him helping the poor and elderly under an identity; Ramaswamy. Raghav sees Pallavi at the old age home and he later sees her helping the elderly and begins to see a different side to her. Anjali in disguise also comes to the home and she hears Pallavi’s conversation about giving food to Ramaswamy. She puts some powder in his tiffin and when Raghav eats it he feels dizzy and falls unconscious. Anjali takes pictures of him in a compromising position with her and makes it viral. When the news reaches the Raos, Raghav’s mother collapses and is sent to hospital. Pallavi and Kirti are also revealed to be friends and when Pallavi sees that her friend’s mother is in need of blood she donates her blood to her anonymously. Raghav who is searching the entire city for the person who shares the same blood group as his mother but he is unsuccessful. He gets a call from Farhad who tells him an anonymous person donated blood already; unaware it was Pallavi. Raghav feels highly indebted to this person.

To get revenge on the person who caused his mom to end up in hospital, Raghav reminisces the past events in which he saw Pallavi handing out food in the elderly home and he comes across a photo of her speaking to Anjali which was taken by Raghav’s men. He misunderstands the situation and thinks Pallavi is the one responsible and is working with Anjali to humiliate and bring him down.

Soon, a very big allegation is put against Pallavi by Sulochana. Sulochana claims that Pallavi was pregnant with Raghav’s baby and went for abortion. The family is shocked as the doctor too claims that Pallavi aborted her child. Soon, Raghav clears the air and the doctor confesses that she was blackmailed by Sulochana and that Amruta was the actual one who did the abortion. Pallavi still gets furious saying that she doesn’t need Raghav’s help. Soon, the Deshmukh family confronts Sulochana. Later, Milind slaps Sulochana for trying to play the victim card and pinning the blame on Pallavi.

Soon, Raghav’s mother and sister get arrested and the former assumes that Pallavi has done it. He vows to ruin Pallavi’s life and reveals to the Deshmukh Family on how the Deshmukh Emporium has been suffering losses from the past two years and how Pallavi has been lying to the family. Vijay gets furious on learning this and throws Pallavi out of the Deshmukh House.

Later, Vijay’s health gets worse due to his stress which worries Pallavi and the Deshmukhs. On the other hand, Raghav keeps trying to convince Kirti and Jaya to stay with him in his house and they ignore it. Soon, Jaya comes up with the idea that the only way Raghav can be handled is with a life-partner and that if he gets a good life-partner, he will mend his ways. The first person that strikes her mind is Pallavi, who is a strong and brave woman who can control Raghav and thus, she tells Raghav that she and Kirti will only live with him if he marries Pallavi. Kirti opposes Jaya’s idea and accuses her of ruining Pallavi’s life as she is already experiencing much stress and Raghav will only make matters worse. To get his family back home, Raghav kidnaps Pallavi and asks her to marry him and tells her that he too would never want to marry her and is only marrying her because of a personal issue. She disagrees and taunts Raghav for attempting to marry someone he hates and will continue to hate all his life.

Soon, Raghav gets Pallavi’s brother-in-law, (Nikhil Deshmukh) arrested and accuses him of stealing diamonds. Just that time, Vijay starts regaining is conscience and asks for Nikhil. Later Raghav meets Pallavi and tells her that the only way Nikhil will be released from jail is to marry him and that while they are getting married, Nikhil will be sent back to the Deshmukh house. With no other option left, she accepts it as a deal and reaches the Rao House for the marriage, hiding it from the Deshmukhs as they are already in enough stress. When she reaches there, Raghav switches on the CCTV cameras at the Police Station showing Nikhil getting out of jail while the rituals of the marriage begin. Kirti calls Sharda and asks her whether she is coming for Pallavi’s marriage and Sulochana picks up. She tells Sharda the truth and the two of them visit the Rao House and see a helpless Pallavi marry Raghav. Sharda threatens Raghav and tells Pallavi not to worry and that she will take her back to the Deshmukh House, but she refuses and said that when she had to stop Vijay from throwing her out, she didn’t and now, she shouldn’t bother. While getting married, Pallavi decides that this is an opportunity to ruin Raghav and make him pay for all the pain that he has given the Deshmukhs. On Pallavi and Raghav’s reception, Pallavi comes in a white saree and reveals to Raghav and the people present that she is a widow and that Sharda and Vijay are her parents-in-laws. Even after all that is done to Pallavi by Raghav, she lies to Jaya that Raghav proposed to her and that the two are in love. But soon, Jaya finds out from Sharda about how Raghav blackmailed Pallavi.

Furious, Jaya slaps Raghav and confronts him for blackmailing Pallavi. Jaya tells Pallavi that they will leave the Rao Mansion, but she refuses. Pallavi takes a stand for Raghav and tells her that she has lost her family due to Raghav, but she doesn’t want Raghav to lose his family because of her. Next day, Pallavi is diagnosed with chicken pox and Jaya hatches a plan to unite Raghav and Pallavi. She makes Raghav do all the work for Pallavi during her illness to show Pallavi that Raghav isn’t that bad at heart. Soon, a Police informs Raghav that Pallavi was not the one who sent Jaya and Kirti to jail earlier, but instead, it was Sulochana.

Soon, Raghav realizes his mistake of ruining Pallavi’s life and goes to the Deshmukh house to tell everyone the truth. He shows them a confession of Sulochana but Vijay does not believe him. Sharda, on the other hand is happy that at least someone cares for Pallavi there and that she can now proudly say that she has got her daughter married to a good household. Raghav, on the other hand, feels very guilty and tells Pallavi that the Deshmukhs don’t deserve her. Pallavi is infuriated upon seeing Raghav insult the Deshmukhs and she slaps him. Later, she takes the decision that she cannot live with the Rao Family anymore and says that she has reunited Jaya and Raghav, and that’s what she came to do. When she packs her bags, all ready to leave for Kolhapur, Raghav attempts to stop her and Jaya tells him that this time if Raghav fails, both she and Kirti will never return. Later, Raghav convinces Pallavi to stay for one month and if he don’t return her family back. He said he will sign divorce paper on 31st day. Soon, Raghav begins falling in love with Pallavi. The Deshmukhs barge inside Raghav’s mansion after receiving an unfamiliar letter. When Vijay threatens to get him arrested, Pallavi stands by Raghav, shocking everyone. She soon learns that Sulochana was responsible for this and she decides to fight for Raghav’s innocence, so that Vijay too can understand him better.

Raghav’s mother also wants to apologies to him as she also assumed that the necklace robbery was all planned by Raghav. Pallavi helps her and gives her the training by imitating him which is secretly seen by Raghav. Raghav adores Pallavi and teases her. In the series of events when Raghav and Pallavi play a game to write down their good qualities which Raghav loses, Pallavi for her victory demands Raghav to tell her what happened between him and his family 10 years back. Raghav at first doesn’t tells her but she then asks him to trust her. He continues beginning his story.

Raghav says that 300km away from Hyderabad, he along with his mother, sister, father (Ajit Rao) and younger brother (Arjun Rao) lived in a small house in a small village. He was very poor and their neighbors used to taunt him for his poverty. He started developing hatred for his poverty and decided to become rich, very rich. But meanwhile his father developed lungs problem and needed medication, which they cannot provide as they didn’t had money. Then Raghav met (Krishna Rao), who lent him money with a condition to make his village members to invest in his chit fund scheme, which he accepted. But later he realized that this was Krishna’s plan to escape with all the money. Raghav questioned him but he gave him money to keep his mouth shut. Villagers in rage killed Raghav’s father and his younger brother and from that day his mother and sister left him and accused him of the death. Raghav then tells Pallavi that from that day onwards he decided to become successful and he did everything in his capacity to achieve that. Pallavi then understands the reason behind his arrogant behavior. Pallavi makes her mother-in-law realize that Raghav had done everything to give them a good life, he was not behind death of his father and brother. His mother felt that how much she neglected his son and then both unites. Other side, Kirti is in love with (Sunny Ahuja), but he is with her just for property, he refused 5 core just in order to win Raghav and Kirti’s heart. Raghav starts believing him and agree for their engagement but Pallavi and her mother-in-law knew that sunny is not good guy for Kirti. And Raghav tell Kirti to choose ring made by his rival company (as Raghav’s company is unable to make rings due to machine issues). Pallavi plans to postpone the engagement thus, Pallavi praise rival company (Neeva jewels) in front of Raghav and asks Kirti to order all her jewelry from Neeva jewels for her marriage. And in Pallavi’s plan her mother-in-law support her, this make him jealous and he says, Kirti only wear Jayati jewels therefore, engagement will be postponed till machine issue is not solved (till 2 months). Pallavi informs Sunny about this and he gets angry at Kirti for delaying their engagement. And he starts hating Pallavi and plans to preponed the engagement with Kirti. Other hand Pallavi challenges Sunny that she will stop his and Keerti’s wedding.

Later, Sunny accidentally hits Vedant (Ved/Lion) and he takes him to his house. Sunny tells him about Kirti’s family, he learns that Pallavi married Raghav and he plans to use Sunny to take revenge from Raghav. Ved then sees Sharda with Pallavi and later from Sunny gets to know that she was the widow of Mandar. Ved has some secret related to connection between Mandar and Raghav which he wants to use to destroy Raghav. Ved hatches a plan and calls Raghav and reveals him the secret and blackmails him that he will reveal it to Pallavi. Raghav who does not want to lose Pallavi starts panicking. Later Ved makes Sunny create misunderstanding in Pallavi’s mind. Though Pallavi shows her strong trust in Raghav and slaps Sunny for speaking ill about him. Meanwhile, Pallavi finds a Mandar’s ring and is confused how is it at Raghav’s house. Later Pallavi starts to investigate the truth behind Mandar’s death. However, as the police refuses her help, she decides to investigate herself. Pallavi goes to the hotel which is in the near by the ring road. The receptionist tells her that there is a watchman who is working here for a long time and gives her his address. Pallavi goes and finds the watchman (Vipul) and asks for help regarding 1st December 2018. But Vipul says he wants 10 lakhs to tell her what happened. Pallavi tells Raghav that he told he saw Mandar’s accident but he refuses to tell the truth asking money and asks Raghav for money but Raghav tells that he don’t have money because he recently invested somewhere else. Later Jaya gives 8 lakhs to Pallavi to find the truth behind Mandar’s death. Next day Raghav went to see Vipul and gave him more than 10 lakhs to save actual murderer Kirti, and told Vipul to say his name as the murderer of Mandar’s death. After knowing the name of Raghav behind the accident, Pallavi confronts Raghav and tells him she knows that he is saving someone as he couldn’t do the accident and run away from the site. Raghav challenges Pallavi that she won’t be able to find the real culprit to which she says that she would find the real culprit. Later Pallavi learns Kirti’s involvement in Mandar’s death, and she recorded her confess everything about the accident in a pen camera. But that night Raghav exchanges Pallavi’s pen camera to save Kirti.
